How to Plan Your Dental Trip to Antalya: A Step-by-Step Guide for UK Patients

For most UK patients, a dental trip to Turkey is the first time they have combined a medical procedure with international travel. The good news is that with a little planning, it is far more straightforward than it sounds — and most patients tell us it was significantly less stressful than they expected.

This guide walks you through every stage of planning, from the first enquiry to arriving home with your new smile, so you know exactly what to expect and what to prepare.

Step 1 — Make your initial enquiry

Before you book anything, contact the clinic. At DentArma, we handle all initial enquiries via WhatsApp, which means you get a fast, personal response — usually within a few hours.

To get the most useful response from your first message, send:

  • A brief description of what treatment you are interested in (implants, veneers, crowns, smile makeover)
  • Recent X-rays if you have them — a photo of your dental X-ray taken on your phone is fine
  • Photos of your teeth — front on and from the side
  • Any specific concerns, questions or medical history relevant to your teeth

Within 24 hours, our specialist team will review your case and provide a personalised treatment plan with pricing. This is completely free and carries no obligation.

Step 2 — Review your treatment plan and confirm dates

Once you have received your treatment plan, you will have a clear picture of what the treatment involves, how many days you need to be in Antalya, and what the total cost will be. If you have questions about anything in the plan, this is the time to ask — your patient coordinator is there to explain every detail.

When you are ready to proceed, confirm your treatment dates with the clinic before booking your flights. We will tell you exactly which days you need to be available for appointments, so you can plan your stay around them.

Our advice:  Book your flights after your treatment dates are confirmed — not the other way around. This gives you flexibility and ensures your appointments can be scheduled at the right intervals.

Step 3 — Book your flights

Which airport?

Antalya Airport (AYT) is the closest airport to DentArma — approximately 20–25 minutes by transfer. It is served by direct flights from most major UK airports, including London Gatwick, London Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol. Most direct routes take around 4 hours.

Which airlines fly from the UK to Antalya?

EasyJet, Jet2, TUI and Turkish Airlines all operate routes between the UK and Antalya. Prices vary significantly by season — Antalya is a popular summer destination, so flights are cheaper and more frequent in spring and autumn if your treatment dates allow flexibility.

How far in advance should I book?

For the best prices, booking 6–10 weeks in advance is typically ideal. Last-minute fares are usually significantly higher. If your treatment requires two visits — which is the case for implants — book both trips at the same time once your treatment timeline is confirmed.

Step 4 — Arrange your accommodation

DentArma is located in the Lara district of Muratpasa, Antalya — one of the city’s most well-developed areas, close to the beach and well served by restaurants and shops. There are many hotels within a 5–10 minute drive of the clinic, ranging from budget options to five-star resorts.

We are happy to recommend hotels based on your budget and preferences — just ask your patient coordinator. Some patients choose to combine their dental trip with a beach holiday, which works very well in spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October) when the weather is warm but the summer crowds have thinned.

What patients typically spend on accommodation:  A comfortable 4-star hotel in the Lara area costs approximately £50–£90 per night. A 5-star all-inclusive resort runs £100–£180 per night. Most implant patients stay 5–7 nights on their first visit; veneer patients typically stay 6–7 nights.

Step 5 — Arrange your airport transfer

DentArma arranges complimentary airport transfers for all patients. When you confirm your treatment dates, give your patient coordinator your flight details — arrival time, flight number and terminal — and we will have a driver waiting for you at the airport.

The same service applies for your return journey: let us know your departure time and we will arrange a transfer from your hotel to the airport.

Step 6 — What to bring with you

Medical documents

  • Any X-rays or CBCT scans taken by your UK dentist (digital copies are fine)
  • A list of any medications you take regularly
  • Details of any medical conditions relevant to dental treatment (heart conditions, diabetes, blood thinners, allergies)
  • Your GP’s contact details if you have any significant medical history

Practical items

  • Your passport — required for clinic registration as an international patient
  • Travel insurance documents
  • Payment method — the clinic will confirm accepted methods in advance
  • Comfortable clothing — you will be spending time in the clinic chair
  • Any existing dental prosthetics (dentures, partial plates) that your dentist may want to reference

Step 7 — Your first day at the clinic

On your first clinic day, you will be greeted by your patient coordinator who will be with you throughout your visit. There is no need to navigate anything alone — transfers, check-in, the clinical consultation and any paperwork are all handled for you.

The first appointment typically involves a full clinical examination, any X-rays or scans needed, and a detailed review of your treatment plan with the specialist who will be performing your procedure. This is your opportunity to ask any remaining questions and confirm you are happy to proceed.

Treatment itself usually begins on the same day or the following day, depending on what you are having done and whether any additional imaging is required.

Step 8 — During your stay

Between appointments, Antalya has plenty to offer. The Lara district is close to the beach, and the old town (Kaleici) is about 20 minutes away — well worth a visit for its Roman-era harbour, Ottoman architecture and excellent restaurants. Public transport is straightforward, and taxis are inexpensive.

Your patient coordinator is available throughout your stay for any questions, practical help or appointment reminders. You will not be left to manage things alone.

Practical tip:  Turkish Lira is the local currency, but most restaurants, shops and hotels in the Lara district also accept euros and British pounds. UK debit and credit cards work at most ATMs. Inform your bank before travelling to avoid temporary blocks on foreign transactions.

Step 9 — Flying home

Your patient coordinator will confirm that you are ready to travel before your departure. For most treatments — veneers, crowns, general cosmetic work — flying home on the final day of treatment is perfectly fine.

For implant surgery, we recommend waiting at least 48–72 hours after the procedure before flying. This is not a strict medical requirement for most patients, but it gives you time to rest and allows us to check that healing is progressing normally before you travel.

Before you leave, you will receive a full treatment pack in English: your clinical records, X-rays, implant serial numbers (where applicable), aftercare instructions and our contact details for any follow-up questions.

Step 10 — Aftercare back in the UK

Most aftercare is straightforward and can be handled by your UK dentist if needed. Share your DentArma treatment documentation with them at your next check-up — it contains everything they need to understand your treatment history.

Our team remains available via WhatsApp after you return home. If you have any concerns about your healing, send us a photo and we will advise you remotely. In the rare event that something requires in-person attention, we will arrange a priority return appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa to travel to Turkey from the UK?

UK citizens can enter Turkey visa-free for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. You do not need to apply for a visa in advance. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of travel.

Is Antalya safe for UK tourists?

Yes. Antalya is one of Turkey’s most visited tourist destinations and is well set up for international visitors. The Lara district where DentArma is located is a modern, well-developed area with good infrastructure, plenty of English spoken, and a very large international tourist presence.

What currency should I bring?

Turkish Lira is the official currency, but euros and British pounds are widely accepted in the Lara district. Your clinic fees can be discussed and agreed in advance in GBP. We recommend carrying some local currency for smaller purchases, restaurants and taxis.

Will I be able to eat normally during my stay?

This depends on your treatment. Veneer and crown patients typically have no dietary restrictions after the first day. Implant patients follow a soft food diet for the first few weeks after surgery. Antalya has plenty of restaurants with suitable options — your coordinator will advise based on your specific treatment.
