A veneer is a thin, custom-made shell of medical-grade porcelain that bonds to the front surface of your tooth. It transforms the appearance of the tooth \u2014 colour, shape, alignment, length \u2014 while preserving the underlying tooth structure.<\/p><\/div>

The key word here is\u00a0thin<\/strong>. A properly designed porcelain veneer is between 0.3 and 0.7 millimetres thick \u2014 about the same as a fingernail. To bond a veneer to a tooth, only the thinnest layer of enamel needs to be reshaped. The tooth underneath remains structurally intact.<\/p>
